- DBU is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent
Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award diplomas and Associate
in Applied Science Degrees.
- Depending on the career area you have chosen, the classes
are scheduled to be completed in 9-24 months. However, depending
on your personal needs your course load can be lengthened
or shortened.
- Classes are offered in the morning, evening and online.
Depending on your schedule, you can register for day, evening
or online classes, or even a combination of all three.
- We have four quarter starts a year: January, April, July
and October. The Medical Office Assistant program starts
every five weeks.
- DBU has competitive tuition costs. Any cost to the student
is dependent on the financial aid you might be qualified
for, the scholarships you might be awarded, community resources
you are eligible for, or the number of classes you might
transfer in.
- Because the objective of the career training offered at
DBU is to prepare students for employment immediately following
graduation, courses were not designed with transferability
in mind. Students must assume that credits for courses
taken at DBU are not transferable to other institutions.
DBU does hold articulation and consortium agreements with
several two and four year colleges which will assist students
to continue their education at another level. Please
remember that credit transfer is ALWAYS determined at the
sole discretion of the receiving institution.
- Yes, we have many staff members that assist with student
and graduate employment. DBU currently has a 90% overall
placement rate.
- Student population varies between 280 and 300. The enrollment
is just about equally divided between day, night and online
students.
- DBU has a wonderfully diverse age population from seniors
in high school to folks in their 50’s and 60’s.
Many students are training for their first career opportunity
and some are here to train for a new career. Education
is a life-long learning experience.
- DBU does not have dormitory facilities. However, members
of our recruitment department will assist you in finding
suitable living accommodations.
- DBU does not have an in-house day care center. Staff
members are available to assist you in finding adequate
day care services to fit your needs.
- We offer both general education classes and beginning
level classes through our High
School Advantage Program. High school seniors may be
awarded the opportunity to take one college level class
each quarter, free of tuition charge, before they graduate
from high school. This allows seniors the chance to
see what some careers are like and if it is something they
would like to pursue. These classes will transfer to your
chosen career training at DBU if you enroll the following
summer or fall quarter after your high school graduation.
This opportunity is a significant time saver as well as
a money saver for seniors.
- Certainly you can. DBU has computers available for
your use Monday thru Thursday from 7:30 am until 10:00 pm
and Friday 7:30 am until 4:30 pm. Some students prefer
to come on campus to do their work. It is quiet and
help is available.
- We have several programs that are offered totally online
and some that are offered at our campus in Duluth. Numerous
classes that are part of our programs offered on campus
are also available to you online. In fact, many students
prefer to use the computers on campus to complete their
course work at a time that is convenient for them.
