Would you like an opportunity to be a part of the challenging
and fast-growing health care field? Do office skills interest
you more than patient care? A career as a Medical Administrative
Assistant may be just what you are looking for. The Medical
Administrative Assistant Program will prepare you for work
in pre-hospital and hospital environments, physicians' offices,
urgent care facilities, and nursing homes. You will acquire
the skills and knowledge needed to coordinate, expedite, and
facilitate functions of the medical office.

After completing this program, the student will be prepared
to perform the following functions: greeting patients and
making appointments, coordinating patient care, filing patients’
financial records and medical records, filing the medical
practice’s own information, arranging hospital admissions,
maintaining various financial records, making calls for physicians
and other healthcare personnel, arranging physicians'
meetings and conferences, coding procedures and diagnoses,
purchasing supplies and equipment, accounting for payments
and posting charges, recording and relaying messages, processing
insurance claims, and scheduling patient appointments and
surgeries. Most of this work will be done using computers
and special healthcare computer programs.
